Why conservatives should want DOMA and Prop 8 overturned

After reading about and listening to Charles Cooper's weak argument before the Supreme Court that Proposition 8 is legal, because marriage exists so that heterosexual couples can have children I realized that his argument really should make conservatives nervous, especially anyone who favors smaller government.

Why? Because he is arguing that continued reproduction is the interest of the State.

The moment that you allow this argument to pass muster, it opens the door to allowing the State to regulate who marries beyond just heterosexuals versus non-heterosexuals.

Recommended drinking: the Dogfish Head IPA

This is for anyone planning to head out to the bars tonight to tie one on for the annual St. Patrick's Day drinkfest. That is, if you haven't decided to just keep going after the St. Patrick's Day parade downtown (usually pronounced "dahntahn" in Pittsburgh).

Should you find that you've had your fill of Guiness and Irish Car Bomb specials, but you haven't quite had enough of liquid carbs yet, consider something a little different from this side of the pond: the Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA.

For anyone who saw the film Beer Wars, Dogfish Head should be a familiar name. Based in the Rehoboth Beath area of Delaware, Dogfish Head likes to make highly original beers and spirits. I like the logo quite a lot, too.

Recommended reading: the best and the worst health articles today

For whatever reason, I found myself reading a bunch of articles in the Health & Science section of the Washington Post today. Two articles stood out for me as the best and worst of the articles. I'll hit you with the worst first.
